Universitas Andalas (UNAND) – Padang
Introduction
The Andalas University Faculty of Medicine is one of the oldest faculty outside of Java Island in Indonesia. The faculty is established in September 7, 1955 in Bukittinggi. Universitas Andalas is a public research university in Padang, West Sumatra. The Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Andalas has two campuses located on Limau Manis and Jati. Andalas is the one of the major public institution of higher learning in Indonesia, and the oldest outside the island of Java. The university is known for its excellence in social sciences and medical program, and has produced numerous distinguished alumni in public and private service. In 1959, the university moved to Padang, the capital of West Sumatra. For students, there are six dormitory buildings with some basic facilities such as mosque, cafeteria, study rooms, television rooms, pantries, mini market, and sports facilities. We also provide primary care clinic on our campus. Since 2006, MDSP Unand has been accredited A from National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT). Finally, in 2016, MDSP Unand again obtained Accreditation A from Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Perguruan Tinggi Kesehatan Indonesia (LAM-PTKes).
Central laboratory is equipped with light microscopes to carry out various basic science labs. Basic science laboratories such as Anatomy, Histology, Biochemistry, Physiology, and Pharmacology have various specific tools due to the laboratory’s needs. Anatomy laboratory is equipped with cadaver and mannequins. Histology laboratory is equipped with microscopes and various slides of human organs. Biochemistry laboratory is equipped with a digital spectrophotometer, Radio Immunoassay devices, pH-meter, ordinary and cold centrifuge, analytical balance, incubator shaker, oven, and other glassware. The Physiology Laboratory is equipped with Fitness equipment, Spirometer devices, Skinfold Caliper and others. To improve the faith and devotion of campus residents, Faculty of Medicine has built a mosque, named Dawaul Ilmi. This mosque is a sanctuary in spiritual development and other social activities. Our campus also has been provided with some sports facilities such as basketball court, volleyball court, badminton field, and tennis table equipment.
